EazyColours Water Soluble Colours can be used in a multitude of rinse-off and leave-on products, and when water activates them they intensify in colour. This can be seen especially in bathbombs. To get the most out of your EazyColours Water Soluble colourants we have written this guide to help you.

What is 'blooming' and what does 'blooming' colours mean?
When you add EazyColours to your recipe not much happens until your product hits the water; that's when EazyColours comes alive and you see how vibrant they are. By blooming EazyColours before you start your recipe you will get a vibrant looking product before it even reaches the water making your products stand out from the competition.
How do you bloom colours? Water is best for blooming colours although some people use rubbing alcohol or witch hazel. Probably the easiest way to bloom your colours is to put your EazyColours into a small pot and add water. Make sure you mix really well until the colour is fully mixed. You can then add it to the bowl of Sodium Bicarbonate and mix with your hands or a mixer until you achieve the desired depth of colour. Sometimes you have to add more water than you would like to pop that colour. In this case you would set it aside to dry a little. Once it is drier you can carry on with your recipe as normal - add your Citric Acid and remix. You just won't need to add any more colour.
Note: Not all colours bloom well e.g. (Red 40) and rubbing alcohol can change colour and even make it disappear (Red 28) in can produce a distorted colour. It is when your product hits the water that you will see its true colour.
Things to remember when blooming...
EazyColours are water-soluble, so water will always give best results.
Use sparingly. EazyColours are commercial grade colourants and using too much makes the colours appear dark, dull, muted and not very attractive. Use the tiniest amount and if it isn't enough then add a little more. You can always add more but you can't take it away.
The colour you see in the bag is not the colour you see in the water.
Here is an example of how EazyColours in bathbombs work. As you can see from the picture above, the rainbow was created with Eazycolours water solube colours and thus the bath bomb is vibrant and all the colours stand out. In the picture below you can also see in the WATER has changed dramaticaly by activating the EazyColours used to create it. These are powerful and highly concentrated colour additives and a little really does go along way. For best results use with water very sparingly to create your own amazing products.
Please note that not all colours bloom well!
Sodium Bicarbonate, Citric Acid, oils, butters, fragrances, water, rubbing alcohol, witchhazel... all these things will alter the outcome of the colour that has been 'bloomed'. Because of this, there is no recipe for success. It is trial and error by you to get the colour depth that you require.
And remember, the true colour appears once it hits that water. Being able to bloom a colour is just an added bonus, but remember it doesn't work for all colours/blends!
USAGE RATES OF EAZYCOLOURS WATER SOLUBLE COLOURS
The percentage rate is the amount you are at maximum allowed in your overall batch.
To find the correct maximum gram weight of colour per your batch, add the weights of all ingredients, divide this by 100 and multiply by the UP-TO usage pecentage. All percentages of EazyColours are listed below for you.
For example Orange CI 40215 has a maximum allowed colour per batch at 0.08% this means if your ingredients added together weigh 1500g you divide 1500 by 100 and then multiply by 0.08.
